EVENT OVERVIEW

Event Dates: May 16-19 2025

Event Location: The Fenlands Recreation Centre, 100 Mt Norquay Rd #2F, Banff

Parking: Large free parking lot at Fenlands Recreation Centre. Free overflow parking available at the nearby Train Station.

Arrival: Doors open daily at 7:45AM

Admission to Regular Competition: Free

Admission to Evolve DanceDown Finals: $20 Adults, $15 Youth/Seniors, $5 Non-Performing Dancers/Child 5 years and under. ON SALE MAY 16TH 9AM (only available for purchase online - no tickets available at the venue).

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

  • Download the Dance Bug app to view the schedule, livestream, and also download your photos and videos after the competition (included for FREE with your registration at Evolve).

 
 

ARRIVING AT THE VENUE

  • The venue will open at 7:45AM each morning.

MEDAL PICK-UP

  • Dancers should check-in with the Merchandise booth in the lobby when they first arrive at Evolve, to collect their Event Medal. Wear your medal on stage for awards, and collect pins for your placements!

  • Check-in/Merchandise booth will be open from 7:45AM-8PM daily, and from 8AM-2PM on Monday

  • Teachers should check-in with the Merchandise booth in the lobby when they first arrive at Evolve to pick up their complimentary event program, while supplies last.

INSIDE THE VENUE

  • For audience members, the theatre doors will open at 8:30AM each morning.

  • Audience members are advised to make their way to their seats early. Evolve Dance Competition reserves the right to run up to 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

  • Designated Girls, Boys and a Universal (Gender neutral/family friendly) changeroom will be provided.

  • Evolve Dance Competition is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or misplaced items in the changerooms, backstage areas, rehearsal spaces or theatre. We strongly recommend that all participants and attendees keep valuables with them at all times and label all personal belongings.

PROPS

  • We have ample space for props on site, behind the stage, for the duration of the competition. Props can be brought in/out of the building during session breaks only. Please use the loading door at the back of the arena.

  • Please note: per Town of Banff Bylaws, prop trailers have access to the last row of the Overflow parking lot for Day/Night prop trailer parking, when hitched to a vehicle (includes U-Haul trucks).

    • This area can accommodate 3 vehicles with trailers.

    • Pre-reservation is required and will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact Jackson Droege at rentals@banff.ca to book Prop Trailer parking. A parking fee will apply.

    • On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, Rocky Mountaineer will be using the lot from 7AM to 9AM to unload and load their trains. Access to and from the lot will be shared during this time.

BACKSTAGE

  • Dancers/Teachers should check-in with the backstage manager 5 numbers before performance.

  • Song & Dance Soloists can choose to be mic’d for performance. Please report backstage 7 numbers in advance.

PERFORMANCE

  • Livestream will be available for friends and family to watch your performance. Check out evolveTV on the Evolve Dance Competition website or the Dance Bug App to watch!

  • Please note, photos and videos are not permitted during performance.

  • Professional photos and videos by Dance Bug are included for every dancer. CLICK HERE to redeem.

AWARDS

  • Awards will be announced at the end of each session live on stage, and also shown on our livestream broadcast. Dancers are welcome to join us on stage for each Awards Session.

  • Overall Awards are handed out throughout the event. Please consult the your event schedule for the noted Overall Award presentations.

EVOLVE DANCEDOWN (OUR FINALS EVENT)

Our event will finish with the Evolve DanceDown, where extra cash and prizes will be awarded.

The Evolve DanceDown is a ticketed event. Admission = $20 Adults, $15 Youth/Seniors, $5 Dancers/Child 5 years and under. **GST & ticketing fees not included

Tickets on sale: starting Friday May 16th at 9AM (available for purchase online - no tickets available at the theatre)

Evolve DanceDown: Monday May 19 at 5PM

Qualifying Routines:

  • Mini/Junior DanceDown Finalists from each studio (min studio 20 entries required, min 3 groups/lines/ext lines in 3 different disciplines).

  • Teen/Senior DanceDown Finalists from each studio (min studio 20 entries required, min 3 groups/lines/ext lines in 3 different disciplines).

  • Highest Scoring Performance Division entry (guest performer - venue space permitting).

  • Highest Scoring Adult Division entry (guest performer - venue space permitting).

  • Come visit us in the lobby to check out our 2025 Evolve Merch! We’ve got sweatshirts, t-shirts, bags, socks, scrunchies and more!

  • Contactless payments via Credit Card or Debit accepted. Sorry no cash or cheque payments.

PHOTOS & VIDEOS

  • Your registration at Evolve Dance Competition includes the photos and videos at no extra cost! To view/download your photos and videos, please CLICK HERE. All photos and videos will be available by 12pm PST on the Monday following the event.
